ISLAMABAD – On the issue of off loading Shaikh Rasheed from Canada-bound PIA’s flight, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced that its parliamentarians would completely boycott the travel to US until American authorities apologize.
According to an official communique, issued by PTI’s cental media cell, PTI’s MNA Nafeesa Khattak will also now not be going on a US-hosted trip to the US as part of a delegation of women parliamentarians.
PTI termed the behavior of US authorities as ‘repeated insults’.
The communique stated “The US cannot choose to invite some legislators while insulting others. PTI reminded the harassment of its Chairman Imran Khan in Canada when he was to board a flight to the US last year and now the off-loading of MNA and leader of his own party Shaikh Rasheed.”
Giving the example of India for responding to such insults, PTI stated that Pakistan must stand up for the dignity and self respect of its citizens especially when they are travelling on valid visas and passports.
PTI demanded the government not only make Pakistan’s displeasure known to the US but must summon its ambassador to lodge a demarche.
Shaikh Rasheed was off loaded from a PIA’s flight on March 21 when he was travelling to Canada to participate in Pakistan Day celebration with expat community.
